  • Entry Requirements:

    This course is suitable for those with Highers, who have completed the Higher syllabus or have successfully completed a non-advanced College course such as Business at Intermediate 2. Qualifications in mathematics and/or accounting are desirable. For those returning to education, life skills and experience in the workplace may allow entry, subject to availability.

  • Description:

    The course is designed to enable students to progress to higher education, gain exemptions from professional examinations and/or enter employment. It is unitised/credit based.

  • Who is the Course for?

    This course is aimed at students who would like to gain a grounding in both financial and management accounting and who are seeking employment as accounts assistants, purchase/sales ledger supervisors or senior bookkeepers or those who wish to progress to university and/or take professional accounting examinations such as ACCA. The course provides some exemptions from such professional examinations.

  • How will I be Assessed?

    This course is mainly assessed on a continuous basis and internal assessment will be carried out by college staff, following guidelines laid down by SQA and monitored by moderation groups. Assessment may take various forms to meet the differing requirements and will be explained to classes by the lecturer at the beginning of each new unit. The course does include external examinations.
