This course is unitised with each unit credit rated.
Year 1
Students study basic business foundations before specialisation in accounting and finance related topics.

Chosen career paths are developed by taking courses in Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Business Finance.
Breadth of basic business knowledge is enhanced through studying:

Year 3
Honours students on the placement route spend 12 months in an accounting or finance related paid placement and undertake two Auditing modules via distance learning. Students on the non-placement routes study Auditing, Finance and management subjects.
Year 4
Compulsory modules are studied in Financial Accounting, Taxation and Managerial Accounting. Students also have the opportunity to undertake two honours electives.
- Placement:
A 12 month paid placement in year 3 (this placement experience can count towards an ICAS training contract requirement). This year long paid placement is unique amongst accounting and finance degrees in Scotland, and provides exposure to the rigour and demands of the working accountancy or finance environment.
- Career Opportunities:
Graduates from this course are in great demand by employers including the Big Four accountancy firms, multinational companies in a wide range of industries, investment fund managers and banks. Possible careers are in areas such as financial and management accountancy, auditing, taxation and corporate finance.
