  • Course Structure:

    This course will equip you with a specialist education in the media and will enable you to build an impressive portfolio of skills in media production, as well as key transferable skills including communication and IT.

    Combined with the necessary theoretical framework, the vocational orientation of the course provides you with an understanding of the media industries and includes modules such as Media Production Project, Broadcast Journalism, Public Relations, Technology and Culture, Media Theory and Practice, Electronic Media, and Media Law. The course is underpinned by a thorough business and management education which has been identified by employers in the media industries as a current skills gap.

    The course has strong links with industry and frequent visits to relevant media companies, including the BBC,
    STV and local radio stations, are arranged for students. There is also much practitioner input to the course, incorporating a range of guest speakers and live client projects.

    The 6 week placement provides you with an invaluable opportunity to put your skills and knowledge to the test and form excellent links with potential future employers.

    The course is taught at the Aberdeen Business School, situated on our beautiful parkland Garthdee Campus.
    The modern purpose built School encompasses state-of-the-art lecture theatres, teaching labs, IT facilities,
    media centre and TV studio. The School's library houses comprehensive collections of journals, case studies and management reports as well as
    extensive electronic resources.

  • Career Opportunities:

    The media industry encompasses a wide range of different careers and has expanded even more within the last five years with the growth of digital media. Possible careers are in areas such as radio and tv, animation, computer games, commercials, interactive media, corporate production and photo imaging. Job titles include that of Television and Radio Researcher, Web Designer, Advertising Executive, Producer, Presenter, Journalist and Writer
