- Course Structure:
The course is designed to develop personal and transferable skills which are particularly attractive to employers, such as the ability to develop problem-solving strategies, a creative approach, team working skills, entrepreneurship, project management, the ability to analyse data, and the ability to communicate and present information effectively.
This course involves network design, industrial and commercial network studies, data networks, computer hardware and software, web techniques, network management, Unix management and internet based programming. Training for the Cisco CCNA is an integral part of this course; the School of Engineering is a Cisco Regional Academy. If possible, semester 2 of year 3 and semester 1 of year 4 are spent on work placement, enabling you to apply your academic knowledge and skills to a professional environment, although an equivalent set of taught modules may replace either or both semesters of placement if necessary.
