  • Course Structure:

    This course has been designed to equip you with skills that will enable you to enter a range of exciting and dynamic biological disciplines. The course will provide you with a firm understanding of human biology, health and disease.

    You will study anatomy and physiology, human biochemistry, biomedical genetics, forensic biology, human cytology and histology, molecular biology, human genetics, immunology, medical microbiology, medical biochemistry, environmental toxicology, public health, advanced microbiology, DNA profiling, biotechnology, genomics and proteomics and medical ethics and the law.

    In Year 4 you will be given the opportunity to use a combination of your practical skills and knowledge to research a relevant and stimulating honours project.

    A key feature of this course is the emphasis that is placed on practical hands-on experience, particularly in
    laboratory work. The School of Pharmacy & Life Sciences laboratories are very well equipped.

    Our bioanalytical, tissue culture and microscopy facilities have all been recently upgraded, which will greatly enhance your technical skills and very importantly, your future employability.

    On completion of the course you will have a wide range of career options including: employment in the Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Industries; Secondary School Teaching; working as an Environmental
    Consultant; carrying out Forensic Analysis; Co-ordinating Clinical Trials; working in Environmental Health.

    You may also decide to continue your studies and specialise with a Masters degree or develop your research skills with a PhD
