David Sedge
// HND Mechanical Engineering // BEng (Hons) Mech & Offshore Eng

Brothers David (27) and Alan (25) Sedge, from Aberdeen, graduated together from ROBERT GORDON UNIVERSITY. David graduated with a BEng in Mechanical and Offshore Engineering and Alan will with a MEng in Electronic and Electrical Engineering with Distinction.
After leaving Harlaw Academy both brothers embarked on a career in the oil industry. While maintaining their work commitments, the siblings both undertook evening classes to achieve their academic ambitions. They each progressed from a HNC to HND and most recently, their respective degrees from ROBERT GORDON UNIVERSITY. Alan started with BP as an apprentice in Grangemouth where he also studied at Falkirk College. David started at General Electric in Aberdeen and commenced further education at Tullos Training, then ABERDEEN COLLEGE, before they both enrolled at ROBERT GORDON UNIVERSITY.
David said, 'Now as I go to graduate a huge coincidence has occurred. My younger brother and I will graduate in the same ceremony on the same day!'
'And the coincidence does not end there; we both work together, three desks apart at BP in Aberdeen.' Alan is an electrical engineer and I am a maintenance engineering team leader.
'Now that our University studies are over we can concentrate on planning my stag trip to Miami as Alan will be the best man at my wedding next August in St Andrews.'
Alan has worked ay BP since 2000 and David commenced his position in December 2004. Alan also won the Engineering School Sandy Menzies Achievement Award in recognition of excellence in his studies.
